CHILDHOOD CLOSET

" Mommy, why two Mickies ?
One red, the other pink.
Are they twins? They are always together,
One of them laughs, when the other one winks. "

Smiled mommy , “ No not two but one.
Wears he black shoes and red shorts.
Minnie is she who giggles and flaunts
Her pink bow and pink polka dots.”

Smile I, cleaning my closet
Cherishing this epic dialogue of my life.
Revisiting my days of childhood,
When a carefree bird was I .
Bungee jumping on my bunk bed,
Kicking pebbles on the street
Chasing butterflies as fast as I could,
Swaying with the wind, like a cloud I used to fleet.
Dropping a misshaped piece of stone,
In a checkered box drawn on ground.
Hopping carefully, avoiding stumbling,
Cheered by friends circled around, creating a bedlam of sound.
Hiding behind the bush, spying like Holmes
Seemed such a whim !
Fleeing after ringing Mr. Rao’s doorbell
Pulling a fast one with him.

Falling from our bicycle,
Only to stand up on our feet and rise.
Losing a game of chess,
Only to win tough battles of life.
Holding our parents’ finger,
To give them our hand tomorrow.
Bearing harsh scolding and scorns,
To endure the unforeseen sorrows.
That serene blissful childhood
Free were we to love, to learn , to grow
Free to make mistakes and follies
Letting the boat of life row on its own.

Rings my phone and disrupts the silent contemplation,
Out of my closet I step.
A work-from-home call from office,
Serves as my present day reality check.

Thoughts And Words Ooze Out Again

It will be almost an year since I last posted something on my blog. Studies had taken over me completely and left me with very little time for myself. My hard chase for the B-school of my choice , wasteful disputes , failures in almost every attempt of mine and several other factors made me feel like a misfit in whatever I undertook. But I am thankful to God for these failures and the hard phase I had to go through in my life. It only helped me become wiser and more confident. Today I am sure that whatever road I choose for myself , it will be traversed by me with unending happiness because pleasures and pressures of life go hand in hand.

          FUSION

A little of foe in friend prevails ;
A little of jealousy in love sails ;
A little of hope in desperation peeps ;
There are stones in sanguine seas.
There are water traces in human blood,
There’s an efflorescence Lotus in mud,
There may be puns in a prosaic prose,
There are flowers in a cactus that grows,
There’s bitter chocolate in a sweet cake,
There comes translucent between transparent and opaque,
There are hurdles and tracks in every race,
There maybe moles on a flawless face,
There are frets and strings in every chord,
A little of loyalty in every fraud.
Nothing is entirely viscious,
Nothing is entirely virtuous.
Its fusion that completes everything
Even the round earth with infinite concentric life circles within.

Who Am I ?

Who am I ? Just another run-of-the-mill face among the crowd of aimless rovers. Caught up in a war with words, laziness and studies - all three simultaneously. Pushing my way through this baffling maze of words , fighting laziness and abandoning my studies, for a while, I decide to talk about myself.

It ain't a blurb about me. It may turn out to be a soporific note. So, if you plan to read it further, I'm not to be blamed for it.

To begin with, I'm a complete melomaniac. I want music to be played endlessly in my life. I need music while I sleep, read, eat ; when I'm awake, excited, overjoyed, depressed, gloomy. Brief it, as long as I'm alive.

I feel unfortunate to not have been born in that amazing era of '60s. I never got to see Beatles or The Rolling Stones perform live. That wonderful age of The Flintstones and Bewitched. Perhaps its my dad's over exaggeration of things of his time that makes me feel so. But honestly, I feel so badly driven by his favorite song "Summer Wine" and the theme of "Come September".

But its completely cool, for I have a friend of mine who reminds me of a hippie. *Giggles*

Whenever I come across a good book, I feel blessed.

I like to be around soft-hearted people. I cant withstand hypocrisy, swaggering, boastfulness. Don't understand why do some people love to blow their own trumpet. Modesty is what I seek.

Wit and humor turns me on. Simplicity to me is divinity.

Harsh voices and abuses can be tolerated only when uttered by Eminem. Life is a beautiful thing. Don't waste it in unnecessary hatred. Love all. Trust your beloved ones. Be an optimist.

I can go on giving unasked advice, be a bonehead, bore my best friend. But I cant see my loved ones distressed and feel the urge to do whatever it takes to pacify them.

'Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'. I completely second this statement.
I am rigid about my opinions, but emotions melt me.

I'l turn 20 in a couple of months, but even today I love to cuddle my stuff toys,
watch The Simpsons, play football with pebbles on road and preserve my priceless possessions, not letting others get their hands on them in a fear that they might harm them.

I like perfection. For instance, I cant see a single scratch on Ricky Martin's CDs which I've treasured since I was twelve. But then I'm a human, we all are. We all act foolish and dumb at times. So what! Screw you practicality.

Life isn't a fairy tale or a Cinderella story where a prince charming awaits us. :|

But I swear, the way Heath Ledger sings out aloud "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and proclaims his love, if a guy does that for me I'l be taken at once. Or if he can sing "Let Me Sign" and give me the jitters, I'l fall for him undoubtedly.
So, you can very well understand the ardor of love I hold for music and people who sing. You don't have to be a brilliant singer. All you need is truth in your voice.

I love the days when I over exhaust myself doing something productive.
I am fond of windy days. They make me smile.

Pasta forms the staple diet of my family. I can feed on Chicken, Pepsi and Bournville for my entire life. Chocolate Ice Cream is my companion in solitude. I'm a gourmand.

You can never be happy unless you want to be.

A believer of true love and the fact that it happens only once in a lifetime.

I really enjoy writing. I know I'm no wordsmith. So, again I ask myself, "Who Am I"?
Maybe just another also-ran in this world of literature.

Infusing Life In The Lifeless

It was the usual Sunday morning. The sun had just begun to cast its impact, yellowing my room and exuding an aura of warmth.
But I was completely drowned in my slumber. Even the sunlight penetrating through the window failed to stimulate me.
The music playing on my I-pod fell upon deaf ears. Thats my usual practice. I tune my playlist on repeat mode and doze off.
So, these natural and man-made objects tried their level best to stir me up but in vain.
Just then I felt as if being tickled under my armpit. That was my phone vibrating. So in the end, a lifeless piece of technology emerged triumphant in instilling consciousness to my sub-conscious mind.
I answered it, half asleep. It was my cheeky cousin on the other end. She had been assigned some work wherein she had to compose a poem on the theme - 'bringing lifeless things to life'. She was explaining all that to me, to which I was listening half heartedly.
I hated this notion of quitting my sleep for somebody else's homework. And then this was followed by a thought process. I started pondering upon the fact that is it really possible to bring still, defunct objects bloom to life?
Why not ! Hadn't the Sun, its Aurora, my I-pod and cell phone sprung to life for a while?

And then I finally decided to compose a poem for her. I chose to instill life in "RAIN". Here's what I could think of :-

        RAIN

I strike the barren Earth,
Up from where I soar.
Stooping down from the pedestal,
Of my heavenly abode's door.

I, the daughter of Cloud ;
Sprout to life dormant seeds,
Quench the insatiable thirst
Reward a farmer's deeds.

I create that seven coloured arch in the sky,
And my musical voice speaks in your ears :
Be pious and noble
Like the pellucid water I bear.

Actually, this concept is very interesting. Many poets use personification to add to the intensity of emotions. For instance this poem "Cloud" by P.B Shelley and even "To Autumn" by John Keats.
And now "Rain" by Rashi Mathur as well. =D

So this is how my day began and this is how some form of life and consciousness was infused in this 'lazy couched potato' too. =P =P

The Paramount Of My Life

Is it possible that some people can mean the whole world to you.!
When you don't get to hear their voices, you feel like a deaf person.
When you don't see a smile on their faces, you feel as if there doesn't exist a person sadder than you.
Every word uttered by them seems as sacred as a sermon.
Their flabbergasting gestures may leave you spellbound, with a prompt "aaaww.." .

Even a small, light MY CAN , can bear so much weight when received from them.
Even the same old Subway seems so incredible in their company.
You feel really empty in the valley of your heart when they don't make fun of
your mind-boggling and stupefying acts , giving a big "high 5 " .

Do they possess some magic wand that can vanish away every grief of yours?
Twisting and turning your life, just like chewing a bubble gum.
Making us laugh in our full boisterous spirits , that it brings tears in your eyes.
How do they do that.?

When you're with them, you're just YOU. The crazy and completely bonkers you,
at the extremity of your emotions. Its like being in The Seventh Heaven with them.

Just like I said, even the smallest of things related to them holds an indispensable place in your life. Just like this picture alongside. Its depicts Quatchi. Its actually a stuff bear.
Just like it was the "magical pants" in that movie Sisterhood Of Travelling Pants which held those friends together. Its Quatchi  which is simply a means that 'l keep us united.

So, cut the crap now. All I want you guys to know is that I'm the luckiest person because my best friends are most beautiful human beings alive. I Love them so much.

Speak, Strike, Right A Wrong !

Murders, Rapes, Assaults - these words do not seem to surprise us anymore. The frequency of crime has increased a manifold in these two years. Who is to be blamed for this? The dominating masculinity, the long legal procedures or the politically influenced police system!

Actually, it is the society which is responsible for these heinous acts. It is astounding that even though the family of Radhika Tanwar was aware of the fact that she was been stalked by a male, they did not report the matter to police.

According to a statistical survey, only one in 69 rape cases in India are even reported. And when we talk about stalkers and eve teasers, the number is countless.

Why do people fear social repercussions so much? Why do they feel that their family pride and honor stands above everything, even if their own life is at stake. They are ready to endure atrocities but can't survive social humiliation.

Its time when people should act selfish and stand up for themselves. Stop caring about the social ethics. Be a ray of hope for others.  Pepper sprays, umbrellas or sandal heels alone are not enough. Raise your voice against these beastly acts, and it will definitely echo back in the form of public support.

Who Says You Can't Write?

It definitely does not require just a pen to jot down something. When you start writing,a cloud of words engulf your mind, leaving you perplexed and you start scribbling and tearing pages. Then after spending hours in the process with no masterpiece in return, you feel wasted in time and your ink. Probably,in the end you decide to close your notebook and tune in some music. Or some people like me decide to go off to sleep.

Writing is an expression of your thoughts and mind. Who says that it should comprise of all sort of fancy vocabulary!

So next time when you switch to writing and go through this weird phenomenon, do not quit it.

Just remember that these thoughts are your own, which no one in this world can duplicate. Its your own creation. So indeed its exquisite and a masterpiece in its own way.Thats why you ought to bring it on.
Just like I did.

This reminds me of John Mayor's song "Say What You Need To Say" . Imply this to your life.

This was my first blog post and we all know that first blog is always a mess. But then its MY OWN. So, I love it.
